Souq Waqif
"Souq" means market place in Arabic.
There are several of these market places in Qatar, and Souq Waqif is one of the oldest and most cherished. The downtown souq sells everything from spices and sweets to brightly coloured fabrics, gold, local pearls and even birds. There's no way I could have missed this, and neither should you.
As the sun sets, vendors set up stalls selling ragag (Arabic crepes) and beautiful souvenirs to bring a little piece of Qatar home with you.
Souq Waqif is one of the most beautiful, colorful and vibrant places I've been to. I'll be sharing a couple of other places, besides the stadiums, that were actually mind blowing.
