When was the last time you did something spontaneous?
Lately I've been on that "Take time to make your soul happy" vibe and I can't think of a better destination to match the spirit than Watamu. The beach is rated third-best in Africa for its crystal clear water and silver sand beaches. I could barely open my full eyes 'cause of the sands' reflection.
Best part is, if you stretch for a further 20kms you are in Malindi, so two birds one stone.
Here are some fun activities you can do while at it:
Snorkeling with dolphins
Visit Watamu Marine Park and Reserve for more info and tailored marine tours.
Marafa Hell's Kitchen
This right here is a beautiful geological formation. Surprisingly it is rather unknown to locals and foreigners alike. Inside the canyon are different shades of colours, each with respective meaning believed from a legend in the past:
🔴 The red is a symbol of blood spilled by the family punished by God for their extravagance;
⚪ White is the colour of milk wasted by the family; and
🟡 Yellow is the colour of God’s wrath towards the family.
Make a point of visiting the site for the inside story. Hell's Kitchen is also easily accessible if you are visiting Malindi.
Relax at the beach
Enjoy the views, turquoise waters, sparkling warm white sands on your feet and an ice cold drink or fresh sea food platter from one of the many beach bars, all in one location. Share your experience, let us know what you enjoyed the most during your tour.
I could go on and on but I'm out, for now! One less thing on the bucket list
